THE STICKING

Sticks are held in the middle by the right hand and at the butt by the left hand
When presenting sticks to partners for striking they are held horizontall.

All of this is then repeated


THE SIX COMMON FIGURES - a brief reminder

1. FOOT UP
2 dble steps forward, 2 singles back, feet tog. & jump clashing sticks with partner
Repeat all this

2. BACK TO BACK
Partners face, dance towards each other 1 dble. step, pass right shoulders, 1 dble. step right passing back to back, dancing backwards to place passing left shoulders in 2 single steps
Feet tog. & jump clashing sticks with partner

Repeat all this starting passing left shoulders

3. PROCESSIONAL DOWN (TOPS DOWN)
Tops face down, dance 2 dble steps down the set & 2 singles back
Feet tog. & jump clashing sticks with partner

The top 4 dancers then repeat this

4. PROCESSIONAL UP (BOTTOMS UP)
Bottoms face up, dance 2 dble steps up the set & 2 singles back
Feet tog. & jump clashing sticks with partner

The top 4 dancers then repeat this

5. HANDS AROUND
Partners join right hands (sticks in left hands) dance round clockwise starting with 2 double steps which take them into their partner's place and finish with single steps (as in the end of the 'foot up')
Feet tog. & jump clashing sticks with partner

Dancers then put their sticks into their right hands and dance left hands around
Feet tog. & jump clashing sticks with partner

6.ADDERBURY HEY
Lines dance figure of eight pattern on their own side of the set.

Top 2 dancers face down to start & others face up

Hey is danced in dble.step ending with 2 singles & feet tog. jump & clash

Hey is started by the top dancers (1s & 2s) facing down, whilst the other dancers face up

THE FINISH
Dancers face up, then walk round in a circle
They place their sticks in number 2s outstretched arms
Then all walk off in order but with stick carrier at end of line
