A CD from the final part of the Heritage Lottery project, held on the 3rd and 4th May 2008 in Victoria Hall Saltaire.

Tracks from the Mussanzi Family Choir from the Congo, Berni Byrne on Irish Harp, The Hut People (Sam Pirt on Accordion and Gary Hammond on percussion), Maggie Boyle (London Irish community), the Ukrainian Ladies Choir of Bradford, Yannick Minvielle-Debat and John Callow with songs from Brittany, Sara Gray (USA), the Krylati Dancers’ Band (Ukraine), the Big Drum Nation song and dance group from Huddersfield, representing the Caribbean, Polish songs from 4 year old Kaya, Marie Dillon (Ireland) Vikki Fielding (USA), Hilary Simpson representing Yorkshire, and Martyn Wyndham-Read with a song about settlers in Australia.

This wonderful set of songs and music would be a worthwhile buy at any price, but thanks to Heritage Lottery funding, at only £5 plus £1.20 p&p you can’t afford to miss it. Ordering details below.

Yorkshire Folk Songs

A collection of songs arranged for community choirs, ranging from full range four parters like Jim Boyes’ arrangements of The Farmers Boy, It Hails It Rains, and The Tailor’s Britches, through three part arrangements by Janet Russell such as The Drystone Waller’s Song, the Settle Carlisle Railway, Western Breeze, and Whitby Bells, to two part quickies such as the Pen-Y-Ghent Beagles and Song of the Yorkshire Dales. Twelve songs in all, some newly written or never previously published, some tried and tested arrangements of well –loved old favourites.
